The Best Dinosaur "Simulator" In My Opinion
Stuff like The Isle, Saurian and the new, controversial (especially in a side of the community I am not in) Prior Extinction on Roblox might hit their fame in the broader palaeontological community, but for me it’s something else.
Drumroll…
This might sound like a dumb, satirical joke (fictional, stylised, cartoon dinosaurs are nothing bad), but I’m not even kidding at all, in the sense you just simply play as a dinosaur as a "simulator." It’s not even just Yoshi, there’s also a plethora of things and detail I can’t count, from gameplay to soundtrack and bosses and I don’t even know, of why Yoshi’s Island (plus the original Super Mario World, I’ve always loved kicking that testudine rat called Iggy Koopa into the fiery pit from his seesaw to save the Yoshis) are not only my favourite games based around dinosaurs, but also mine in the Super Mario franchise entirely. Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which is now a year old, yet I’ve not played and never will for obvious reasons, might get its rates for its game-changing "wondrous" style, but I digress. On my SNES Mini, I’ve now just completed stage 6-7, "KEEP MOVING" or whatever. I’m now on the way to hunt down a kaiju-sized Baby Bowser into a kaiju-sized banquet, like the predatory dinosaur Yoshi is, saving the two Mario brothers and keeping those "flying rats from hell" (they’re actually called Toadies but I’ve always called them that) away from them. It’s a very great game and I recommend you check it out, even if it’s not palaeontological. There is a lot more great things I cannot count about it.
