The New Style Is Here!

The new vintage Naturalist’s Library-style rebranding of what used to be my "Bestiary" series is now complete. Here is my brand new Tyrannosaurus artwork in the style, which is now on my month-old blogpost about the dinosaur at my website’s Gallery. In some time, I will finally now continue on my Allosaurus for this style.

When I posted the prototype mockup for the design, I stated that the imposing volcano in the background was just an experimental but classic addition with not much reasoning, but I soon found out that around Tyrannosaurus the Rocky Mountains were actually forming, and all this great force would’ve spawned the presence of volcanoes around. All the masked parts of the setting are imported from free stock images online which I convert into brushes to use on ProCreate. The effect is perfectly fittingly aquatint. Not to mention the detail of some random ducks shooting up into the sky which I just wanted to add. Waterfowl are an ancient group of birds known to have already evolved by the end of the Cretaceous period, with forms like the undescribed Styginetta, a presbyornithid bird that lived with Tyrannosaurus and was like a cross between a duck and a flamingo, and while true anatids are not known until the Oligocene epoch, I just have that feeling that at least something like them would’ve been around. I also still don’t really have a new name for the series yet, but I’ll keep on looking.

In the end, what do you think? I’d like to hear your compliments. Thanks all!
