Hello synapsid, my name is Mikail Afridi. I am a 15-year-old based in the United Kingdom with a childhood passion for nature and its animals, living and extinct, most notably dinosaurs. I love to educate the world about all these beautiful beings, to adventure into the wilds, local and across the globe, to observe beautiful wildlife such as birds (the last dinosaurs), and to illustrate the dinosaurs as they would’ve looked like in the flesh, and scenes of the past they lived in. I also like to collect anything natural, from specimens and feathers to fossils and classic dinosaur textbooks of childhood.
I am known on social media as Mikailodon, after an imaginary chimeric dinosaur with pieces of my favourite animals, from the European robin to the Iguanodon. This is my blog for all my doings, where I write about my adventures and thoughts, little stories about the prehistoric Earth, and share my palaeoart and wildlife sightings on the gallery. You may also find me on Instagram, DeviantArt and YouTube, where I occasionally post videos about my hobbies in a cozy VHS style. I also have a Discord server for discussing animals, but not your urbotrist run-of-the-mill Discord server, but in the format of a fun, old-school message board. I also sometimes contribute to Wikipedia pages with my reconstructions of animals, for pages about them that would else be a stub, and I might contribute to you too for projects.
Here, I’m into the vibe of simple country life where it’s all cozy and well. The gloomy, dystopian vibe of modern urban society (which I like to term "urbotrism") takes no place here. I have a personal, innovative approach to palaeontology that is not just the academic paper-style fashion of taxonomical synonyms and catalogue names, as well as toxic Gen Z humour and WIS edit shorts of the modern urbotrist palaeontology community, but actually learning about the prehistoric world and its extinct animals in an immersive and adventurous manner, igniting the nostalgic awe and wonder we’ve all had with dinosaurs as youngsters. The priority is all on the dinosaurs. So if you’re an adventurous dinosaur lover like me wanting to go back to those "dinosaur-obsessed kid" days, this is the place to be. Have fun at The Mikailodon’s Lagoon, and don’t forget to subscribe to the mailing list to be notified about my new posts!
